Getting To Dubai
There are numerous airlines flying direct between the UK and Dubai. The one we have always used is Emirates who fly from Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester. Their hub is in Dubai where Terminal 3 is dedicated to Emirates flights. There are numerous departures daily to and from the UK which also allows you the flexibility of choosing a time to suit you. As an example it is possible to catch an early flight (between 8 and 10am) from London meaning you arrive in Dubai early evening and thus avoid the inconvenience of arriving in the middle of the night or extremely early in the morning. The Emirates flight experience is fantastic, with special touches you don’t get elsewhere such as having warm refreshing flannels brought round just after boarding the plane plus an inflight menu that is more appetising than your average airline food. All drinks, both soft and alcoholic, are complimentary throughout the flight (with the exception of champagne).
The ICE inflight entertainment system is extremely good too, offering a wide choice of films, TV shows, music and games. You can follow the flight path on the on screen map, plus there are cameras at the front of the plane looking ahead and underneath it looking down. It’s great to view the runway approaching on the forward camera as you’re coming in to land.
British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also fly non-stop to Dubai, as do Royal Brunei. There’s also the option of using an indirect service. You can fly to neighbouring Abu Dhabi with Ethiad Airways and then travel by coach to Dubai.
