Al Bustan Rotana
This hotel is located just a few minutes drive from the airport. We had a Club Rotana room which included complimentary airport transfers in a luxury BMW. The club rooms are located on the 3rd floor which includes the club lounge and the check in desk. The room was a nice large size, as was the bed. It didn’t feature a balcony but this wasn’t a problem.
Breakfast was served in the Club Lounge, in the form of a self-serve buffet with plenty to choose from. For afternoon tea we were brought drinks and a small selection of sandwiches was provided. However the highlight was the evening “Happy Hour”, actually two hours long. Not only did this include complimentary alcoholic drinks, in addition to soft drinks, but there was also a quite extensive food buffet provided. If you didn’t want to dine later you could quite feasibly have created a whole meal from this. As it turned out we tended to treat this as a starter before going to a restaurant for a main course.
There are numerous restaurants in the hotel. We sampled Choices, which offers a buffet option although we ordered off the main menu (having previously enjoyed “starters” in the Club Lounge). We also paid a visit to the Blue Elephant Thai restaurant. Again, the food was excellent.
The swimming pool is accessed from the first floor. At first glance it is not incredibly big, but this did not prove to be a problem. Indeed given the size of the hotel and the good weather, it was surprising how few people were around the pool and it was never a problem finding a sun lounger.
The location of Al Bustan Rotana means there’s virtually nothing within walking distance so you will need to take a taxi to go anywhere.
